Catholic Central falls to Caldwell in sectional tournament
STRASBURG -- The Catholic Central volleyball team's season came to a close on Thursday with a loss in the Division IV, East District sectional finals.
The Crusaders, who were the No. 7 seed, fell in three sets to No. 5 seed Caldwell in the sectional co-finals held at Stasburg-Franklin High School.
Caldwell won by scores of 26-24, 25-23, 25-15 to advance to next week's district tournament.
For the Crusaders, Natalie Cherepko tallied 11 points, six kills, three blocks and two aces, Lilly Balzano recorded eight points, 10 assists, two kills, two aces and a block, Ava Marcino recorded 15 points, eight assists, four blocks, three kills and an ace and Talia Marcino finished with 13 points, two kills and an ace.
The Crusaders finish 15-8.

Big Red falls
NEW CONCORD -- The Big Red girls soccer team's run in the Division II, East District tournament came to an end with a 6-0 loss to John Glenn on the road in the second round on Thursday.
Big Red, the No. 11 seed, concludes the season at 9-10. The Muskies advance to next week's district tournament.
SITES ANNOUNCED
The East District announced neutral sites for next week's district semifinals in soccer and volleyball on Thursday.
The Big Red boys soccer team's Division II district semifinal against John Glenn will be played at St. Clairsville's Red Devil Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
The Catholic Central boys soccer team's Division III district semifinal against Tusky Valley will be played at Harrison Central's Wagner Field at 7 p.m. on Monday.
The Indian Creek volleyball team's Division II district semifinal against Beaver Local will be played at Steubenville High School's Crimson Center at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Toronto volleyball team's Division IV district semifinal against Monroe Central will be played at Martins Ferry High School at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
