Catholic Central gets repeat victory over Toronto

TORONTO -- Three players reached double figures Thursday as Catholic Central snapped a two-game losing streak with a 57-41 victory over Toronto.

Ella Maragos paced the now 5-3 Crusaders with a game-high 22 points. The sharp-shooting senior connected five times from behind the arc. Anna Arai chipped in with 15 points and 10 rebounds to record her eight double-double of the season. Jackie O'Karma added 11 to go along with five assists and four steals.

The score was tied at 10 after the opening period and Central, which completed a season sweep of its Jefferson County opponent, led 22-16 at the intermission.

Senior Ashton Thomas had another strong game for Toronto, scoring 16 points. Michelle Anderson netted 10 for the now 3-10 Red Knights.

Both teams return to the hardwood on Monday. Central will host Malvern in a varsity only contest--the opening tip is set for 6:30 p.m. The Red Knights will welcome Madonna to the Gem City.
