Big Red sweeps at the Jefferson County Relays

STEUBENVILLE -- The Big Red track and field team's strong season continued on Monday.

Just two days removed from sweeping the Bellaire Relays, Steubenville's boys and girls swept the team and individual high point scores at the Jefferson County Relays Monday at Harding Stadium, where Big Red also swept the Early Bird Invite earlier this season.

On the boys side, Big Red racked up 180 points, better than the 132 by Edison and 59 from Catholic Central.

Big Red had the top-four individuals, led by high-point winner Josiah Rea, as well.

On the girls side, Big Red racked up 155 points, topping Catholic Central's 84 and Edison's 76.

For high-point, Sabria Jones edged Buckeye Local's Jenna DelVecchio by half a point and Central's Natalie Cherepko by just two points.

GIRLS

Jones topped the 100 dash, Buckeye Local's Brynn McKeever won the 200, Central's Kathryn Bolster crossed first in the 400, Toronto's Josey Dickinson won the 800, Edison's Annie Board won the 1600, Indian Creek's Aubrey Duggan was the lone girl in the 3200, Cherepko was fastest in the 100 hurdles, DelVecchio won the 300 hurdles, Big Red's unit of (Za'Herryah Herring, Sarah Allen, Aniyah Warner and Jones) topped the 4×100, Steubenville (Herring, Warner, Allen and Cianna Scurry) topped the 4×200, Central (Elizabeth Schmiesing, Monica Bolster, Maisy Symington and Cherepko) won the 4×400, Big Red Alivia Vostatek was highest in the high jump, Jones won the long jump, Buckeye Local's Pam Kandrach threw longest in the shot put and Big Red's Aujanas Robinson won the discus.

BOYS

Big Red's Jalen Minniefield topped the 100 and 200, Rea topped the 400, Central's Andrew Rohde won the 800, Big Red's Owen O'Brien was fastest in the 1600 and 3200, Steubenville's Savier Faulks topped the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, Big Red (Jaden Christian, Jemier Faulks, Jaden Smith and Che.Mier Adams) topped the 4×100, Edison (Andrew Kirkman, Metthew Evans, Trevor Eisnaugle and Deacon Rawson) won the 4×200, Big Red (Savier Faulks, Jemier Faulks, Adams and Rea) paced the 4×400, Steubenville (Adams, Tommy Lucas, Andrew Stimpert and Tae Shawn Minniefield) topped the 4×800, Rea won the high jump, Kirkman the long jump, Big Red's Javin Harper was the shot put winner and Edison's Joey Simpson went furthest in the discus.
