Crusaders roll past the Huskies to improve to 4-0

STEUBENVILLE — The Catholic Central girls soccer team remained undefeated with a 8-1 victory over Harrison Central on Monday evening.

Isabelle Lee had two goals and two assists while Sophia Walsh and Gigi Rook each netted two goals for the Crusaders, now 4-0.

Delaney Dankert also scored, while Sophia Hoover and Maria Kissinger each had an assist.

Aurella Hoover made one save.

Lilly Gibbons had the lone goal for the Huskies on a penalty kick, while Vanessa Dowdle made six saves in net for Harrison Central.

Jets top Huskies

CADIZ — Visiting Union Local recorded a sweep of Harrison Central Monday night in high school volleyball action. The Jets prevailed 25-21, 25-14 and 25-14.

GOLF

Red Riders top tri

NEW MANCHESTER — The Red Riders looked sharp on Monday at Woodview Golf Course, finishing ahead of the Brooke Bruins and Oak Glen Golden Bears in a tri at Woodview, shooting a 167 to Brooke’s 175 and Oak Glen’s 202.

Weir’s Isaiah Smith was the match medalist, finishing with a 37 on the Par 36 course.

Guy Meneely (41), Evan Kaczmarek (43) and Johnny Horstman (46) also made the cut for a team score of 167.

Brooke was led by Parker McMahon, who came in at a 42. Oak Glen’s Cooper Comm paced his team, shooting a 48.

Weir, Brooke and Oak Glen will play again on Thursday, joined by John Marshall, at Highland Springs Golf Course.

Edison girls top United

LISBON — The Edison girls golf team topped United on Monday, 174-190, at Twin Springs.

Bella Evans set a program nine-hole record with a 38, two better than Nicole Zullo’s mark of 40.

Katie Phillips had a 46, Gwen Stine a 50 and Kelsi Holland a 64.

JCC wins at home

WINTERSVILLE — the Jefferson County Christian soccer team beat the Washington County Homeschoolers 4-1 in their season opener on Monday.

Jordan Crew had two goals and Wyatt Hervey had a goal and an assist.
