Big Red boys roll past Wheeling Central for 10th win

WHEELING -- A pair of teams that were in the OVAC tournament a couple weeks back met on Tuesday night and it was Big Red earning a convincing 7-1 victory over Wheeling Central in the contest.

The victory is the 10th of the season for Steubenville, now 10-3-3.

Cole Bowers had three goals and an assist, while Brady Dinovo, Landon Bowers, Tad Loot and Drew Stimpert also scored and Hayden Hicks tallied three assists.

Luke Dinovo, James Devereaux and Cedric Perkins each had an assist, while Robby Lucas (five saves) and Luca Holt (one save) combined in goal for Big Red.

Steubenville travels to Harrison Central on Thursday night.

Brooke tops Central

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke boys soccer team earned a 7-3 victory over visiting Catholic Central on Tuesday in its annual cancer awareness match.

Chase Hile led the Bruins (5-9-2) with four goals and two assists, while Evan Urso recorded three goals and three assists and Cooper Byers had a pair of assists.

Chance Brozstek made 11 saves in goal.

For the Crusaders, Sante Descalzo had a pair of goals, Luke Kanzelberger also scored and Andrew Rohde registered an assist. Joseph Vranish made 15 saves for Central.

GIRLS SOCCER

Riders blank Linsly

WHEELING -- The Weir High girls soccer reached double digits wins once again this season as they defeated Linsly, 6-0, on the road Tuesday to improve to 10-3-3.

Madelyn Cramer had two goals, while Elli Noel, Jaidyn Kelly and Mika White also scored.

Cramer also had a pair of assists, while Brynn Artman and Myleigh Clevenger also had an assist and Rayna Hoover made two saves for the shutout.

The Red Riders travel across the river to Catholic Central today.

VOLLEYBALL

Toronto tops Buckeye

CONNORVILLE -- The Toronto volleyball team went South on Ohio 7 and came back with a sweep of Buckeye Local, 25-14, 25-17, 25-17.

The Red Knights got four aces, 23 assists and 16 digs from Chloe Fisher, three aces, two kills and 16 digs from Gracee Rex, 11 kills and 12 digs, from Jayna Reeves, nine kills and two digs from Josey Dickinson and five kills and six digs from Emma Parello.

The Knights host an OVAC consolation pool tri today against Bridgeport and Valley.
