Indian Creek volleyball advances with first round upset
MINERVA -- The Indian Creek volleyball team pulled a first-round upset on Tuesday night.
The Redskins, the No. 9 seed in the Division IV, East 2 District tournament bracket, went on the road and upset No. 7 seed Minerva in five sets.
Creek fell behind 0-2 in the match falling 26-28 in an extended first set and 20-25 in the second, then won three-straight to advance.
Creek won the third 25-13, the fourth 26-24 in another extended set then won the winner-take-all fifth 15-10 to move onto the second round.
The Redskins, now 11-12, will face No. 4 seed River View next Tuesday in the district semis at a site to be determined.
River View topped St. Clairsville, the No. 13 seed, in a sweep in its match Tuesday.

Elliott completes state tourney
KETTERING -- Big Red's Christipher Elliott wrapped up his season by completing the second of two rounds at the Ohio Division I golf tournament on Tuesday at NCR Country Club.
After shooting an 83 on Day 1 Monday to tie for 50th, Elliott improved considerably on the second day, firing a 78 to tie for the 20th best score on the day.
He finished with an overall score of 161.
His 36 on the front nine Tuesday was tied for the third best front nine score of the day.
