Madonna makes it seven wins in a row

WELLSBURG -- The Madonna softball team's win streak continued on Tuesday.

The Blue Dons rallied back from a five-run deficit with the game's final six runs, taking an 8-7 victory on the road at Brooke.

Madonna victory gave the Dons seven-straight victories after an opening day loss to stand at 7-1.

Brooke, which was looking for its first win of the season, plated seven runs in the bottom of the second to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 7-2 lead.

From there, though, it was all Madonna, as the Dons plated five runs in the fourth to even the score, then got the eventual winning run in the sixth.

Madi Owens had a big day for the Dons, hitting a first inning two-run homer, then later adding a two-run double in the fourth inning rally to finish the day driving in four runs.

Kendal Ryan had two hits and two RBIs for Madonna, the RBIs coming on a two-run single during the five-run fourth. Chloe Orecchio and Ally Laughlin also had an RBI each. Laughlin's RBI provided what proved to be the winning run on a sac fly.

In the circle, freshman Peyton Conley came on in relief and fired 5 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five to earn the victory.

For Brooke, Eden McKinney had four hits, inlcuding two doubles, and drove in a run, while Maggie Diserio went 3 for 5 with a pair of RBIs and Gabby Hornick also drove in two runs.

Oak Glen blanks Edison

RICHMOND -- The Oak Glen softball team did not wait long to get back in the win column as they went to Edison Tuesday and blanked the Wildcats 10-0.

The win was the seventh for Oak Glen in 11 outings.

Mattie Carney fired a no-hitter, striking out 11 batters without issuing a walk for the Golden Bears.

Danica Holden blasted a three-run homer and finished with two hits, while Kayla Wright tallied a pair of hits and drove in four runs.

Addie Smith also had two hits, while Carney also contributed a double and a single at the plate to go with her big performance in the circle.

Creek falls to St. C

WINTERSVILLE -- runs were plenty to be had Tuesday when Indian Creek took on St. Clairsville.

The teams combined for 25 runs and 26 hits. Unfortunately for Creek, one more of the runs was on the Red Devils side of the scoreboard as St. C took a 13-12 victory.

Creek led 7-4 after one inning, fell behind 13-8, then rallied back with four in the bottom of the seventh, coming up just one run shy of completing the comeback.

McKenna Scott had another huge day for Creek, blasting a homer, a triple and a single to come a double shy of the cycle. The Purdue Fort Wayne signee finished the day with five RBIs.

Scott went 2 2/3 innings of relief work in the circle, striking out six batters.

Rylee Sadler also tripled, finsihed with four hits and drove in a run. Peyton Rath had a double, triple and a single and drove in a run to finish a homer shy of the cycle herself.

Knights falls to Bridgeport

TORONTO -- The Toronto softball team dropped an 8-6 decision to Bridgeport on Tuesday.

The Red Knights fell behind 6-1 but battled back with the final three runs, coming up just shy of coming all the way back.

Jaylee Brown had a homer, a single and two RBIs, while Lily Sapp doubled and singled and Anna Wright and Isabelle Cattrell each drove in a run.

Laney Danko had six strikeouts in the circle.

Creek tops Panthers in opener

MINGO JUNCTION -- The Indian Creek baseball team opened its season with a 6-2 win at home over Buckeye Local on Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled for Monday at Buckeye Local but moved by the weather.

Creek scored a run each in the first two innings then added two in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. After the Panthers cut the margin in half, the Redskins added a pair in the sixth.

Sal Barcalow finished with three RBIs for Creek, while Silas Hyde and Hunter Rusnak each plated one.

Hyde went 4 2/3 innings for the win on the mound, fanning seven. Gavin Pownall struck out four in 2 1/3 of relief work.

For the Panthers, Alex McDiffitt had a pair of hits, while Wyatt Luyster and Kaleb Stang each drove in a run.

Stang started on the mound and went five innings, fanning two.

Red Knights keep rolling

TORONTO -- The Toronto baseball team got its third run rule win in as many outings on Tuesday, topping visiting Lisbon 13-0 at the KBC.

Caden McGrath had three hits and four RBIs, while Aiden Filby had two hits and an RBI, Drake Bouscher drove in two runs, Chase Heckathorn batted in two runs with a double, Russ Dickinson plated a run with a double and Lucas Wiseman had two hits and an RBI.

Bouscher was the winning pitcher, tossing the first three innings.

Toronto has outscored their opponents 37-0 in the first three games of the season.

Oak Glen tops Wellsville

NEW MANCHESTER -- The Oak Glen baseball team pulled away from visiting Wellsville on Tuesday for a 13-3 run rule victory.

Wellsville scored three runs in the top of the first, then it was all Golden Bears as they plated the final 13 runs to end the game an inning early.

Christian Chappell finished with two hits and four RBIs for Oak Glen, while Lucas Zoellers tripled.

Ethan Wedgewood went all six innings on the mound, fanning eight without issuing a walk.

Edison blanks East Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Edison baseball team went on the road to East Liverpool and topped the Potters 10-0 in five innings for a run rule victory.

Brady Haught fired a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit with 12 strikeouts and no walks.

Evan Kimmerle had a double and four RBIs for the Wildcats, while Cole Pittman drove in three runs with two hits and Chase Freeman also had a pair of hits.

JCC tops Leetonia

LEETONIA -- The Jefferson County Christian baseball team went north to Leetonia and came back with a 10-3 victory.

Lee Gump tossed five innings for the win on the mound.

Carson Duvall and Aiden Howard each had a double for the Royals, who moved to 4-2 with the victory.
