Huskies edge out a 1-0 win at Edison
RICHMOND -- The Harrison Central baseball team got just enough offense to come out on top of a pitcher's duel Monday evening at Edison, 1-0.
Colten Rutter fired a compete game shutout, holding the Wildcats to just one hit while striking out six.
Kayden Dunkle had the lone RBI of the game, while Anthony Pelegreen had a pair of hits for the Huskies (13-5).
Edison's Kyle Long tossed 5 1/3 innings of scoreless releif work, while Bryce Rogers started and allowed only an unearned run in 1 2/3 innings.
Edison (12-5) is at Toronto on Wednesday, while the Huskies host Chippewa on Friday.
Red Knights win big
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Toronto baseball team won for the 18th time in 20 games this season, rolling to a 12-0 run rule win on the road at Youngstown East on Monday.
The Red Knights got a triple, single and an RBI from Drake Bouscher, a double, single and an RBI from Heath Thomas, a double, two singles and an RBI from Russ Dickinson, two single and an RBI each from Michael Henry and Cole Barcus and two singles and two RBIs from Tanner Newbold.
Lucas Wiseman went the distance on the mound, firing a shutout with two hits allowed and four strikeouts without issuing a walk.
The Knights host Edison on Wednesday.
Creek blanks Ferry
MARTINS FERRY -- The Indian Creek baseball team topped Martins Ferry 5-0 on the road Monday to improve to 14-3.
The Redskins got a pair of hits, a double and a single, and an RBI from Hunter Rusnak, while Ty Householder blasted a solo homer and Stan Amis had a pair of hits.
Sylus Hyde fired a complete game shutout on the mound, allowing just one hit while striking out nine and walking just one.
The teams rematch at Muth Field on Wednesday.
SOFTBALL
Creek slams to victory
TORONTO -- Rylee Sadler and Kylie Dray each blasted a grand slam to help Indian Creek to a 16-3 victory on the road at Toronto on Monday.
Creek (8-12) also got a triple from McKenna Scott, while Gracie Hollenbeck had a double and a single with an RBI.
Dray and Sadler each also had a double, Dray driving in five runs and Sadler finishing with six RBIs.
Peyton Rath went the first five innings in the circle, striking out six and walking one, while Scott fired the last two innings and struck out four.
Laney Danko had a double and a single for the Red Knights, while Jaylee Brown, Lily Sapp and Anna Wright each had an RBI.
Creek hosts Martins Ferry today, while Toronto (8-10) travels to Wellsville today.
