Big Red takes on St. C to open golf season

STEUBENVILLE — The 2025-26 high school sports season began Wednesday with the opening of the high school golf season.

Steubenville Big Red battled St. Clairsville in its season opener in a nine-hole match at Steubenville Country Club.

The Red Devils pulled out a 158-180 victory.

For Big Red, Christopher Elliott shot a 41, Jaggar Rawson a 45, Andrew Matzorkis a 46 and Noah Kokiko a 48.

St. C’s Mavrick Malin was the medalist with a 35.

Big Red will look to bounce back on Monday hosting a quad against Catholic Central, Indian Creek and Buckeye Local.

Edison tops East Liverpool

RICHMOND — The Edison boys golf team topped East Liverpool 201-216 in their season opener on Wednesday.

Xander Haught led the Wildcats with a score of 47, while Isaiah Filburn and Luke Ferralli both fired 51s and Jordan Everhart tallied a score of 52.

The match win was the first for first-year coach Aaron Henderson.

Edison is back in action on Friday, traveling to Cambridge for an afternoon dual match.
