Big Red golf shoots low score, wins another
TORONTO — The Big Red golf team keeps on rolling.
Steubenville’s golfers picked up another victory on Wednesday — their eighth straight — topping host Toronto in the back end of a home-and-home dual set at Dyer Country Club.
To do so, coach Scottie Lane’s team turned in its lowest score of the season to date, a 157. That was 31 strokes better than the Red Knights.
Leading the charge was Christopher Elliott with a 34 to be the match medalist, while Jaggar Rawson and Andrew Matzorkis fired a 39 each and Noah Kokiko carded a 45. Patrick Jenkins shot a 46 and Gino Scaffidi turned in a 48.
For Toronto, Hank Bodnar and Terry Dear tied with a 45 each to lead the way, while Joey Westlake fired a 47 and Wyatt Anderson turned in a 51.
Edison girls top River
HANNIBAL — The Edison girls golf team went on the road and made it wins on back-to-back days Wednesday, topping River 187-245.
Kallie McKeegan led the Wildcats with a score of 41, while Bella Evan carded a 48, while Mady Cornell and Teagan Reynolds each shot 49.
Edison is now 6-3 on the season.
Buckeye tops Oak Glen
RAYLAND — Kamden Kinyo continued his fine season as he shot even par 36 Wednesday in leading Buckeye Local to a 10-shot win over Oak Glen in high school golf action.
The Panthers finished at 172, while the Golden Bears turned in a 182.
Zach Jenkins led the Golden Bears with a 39.
