Big Red boys edge past Linsly 1-0 for 2-0 start
WHEELING — The Big Red boys soccer team is off to a 2-0 start to its season.
Steubenville went on the road to Linsly on Monday and came back to town with a narrow 1-0 victory over the Cadets.
Joey Rice scored the lone goal of the game for Big Red off an assist from Landon Bowers, while JJ Lamatia made a pair of saves in goal to preserve the shutout.
Big Red is on the road again on Thursday, traveling to East Liverpool.

Big Red wins another
STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red golf team continued its impressive season Monday at Steubenville Country Club, picking up two more wins over visiting Indian Creek and Brooke in a tri match.
Behind another standout performance from senior Christopher Elliott, Big Red fired a team score of 160, topping Creek (184) and Brooke (185).
The victory lifts Steubenville to 13-1 on the year and is the 13th-straight win for Big Red.
In addition to Elliott, who shot a two-under-par 34, Andrew Matzorkis fired a 39, Jaggar Rawson a 42 and Patrick Jenkins earned his varsity letter with a 45.
Creek got a 43 from Tre Feist-Winland, a 45 from Riley Guskea, a 47 from Garrin Clark and a 49 from Logan Westlake.
For Brooke, Carter Neilson, Dustin Engle and Andrew Petrella each shot a 46, while Colton Yenson had a 47.
Edison edges Harrison
CADIZ — The Edison boys golf team eked out a narrow one-stroke win over Harrison Central Monday at Cadiz Country Club, 186-187.
Brady and Xander Haught led the way, each firing a 44, while Luke Ferralli turned in a 47 and both Isaiah Filburn and Jon Whitlatch shot 51.
Edison is now 9-7 on the season and takes on Big Red today at Spring Hills.

Edison falls at Claymont
UHRICHSVILLE — The Edison volleyball team dropped a match in straight sets at Claymont on Monday.
The Wildcats take on Big Red on the road at the Crimson Center on Thursday night.
