Madonna volleyball sweeps past Catholic Central at home

WEIRTON — The Madonna volleyball team eanred a strong victory over visiting Catholic Central on Tuesday evening in straight sets, 25-5, 25-12, 25-8.

For the Blue Dons reached double digits in the win column with the victory, pushing their record to 10-4-1.

The Dons were led by 12 kills and five digs from Rylee Birkhimer, 29 assists and seven aces from Sophie Brady and four aces and nine digs from Becca Birkhimer.

The Blue Dons are back at home today against Wellsville. on senior night.

Oak Glen falls in five

BELMONT — The Oak Glen volleyball team dropped a five settle battle with Union Local on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-17, 18-25, 22-25, 9-15.

Brooklyn Six had 19 kills, two aces and 10 digs, Averi Martin had 16 kills, four aces and four blocks, Brayley Lash had nine kills and five digs, Mattie Carney had five kills, Mikalyn Balch had 49 assists and 14 digs, Ellie Smith had four aces and seven digs, Layla Skavenski had eight digs and Keira Vick had 19 digs.

Oak Glen, now 12-6-3, hosts Weir High tonight.

Brooke sweeps Edison

WELLSBURG — The Brooke volleyball team made it wins on back-to-back days with a senior night sweep of visiting Edison on Tuesday night.

Central, Oak Glen girls tie

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen and Catholic Central girls soccer teams battled to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday.

The Crusaders got goals from Lily Krivoniak and Isabelle Lee.

Aurie Hoover made five saves and Addie Long three in net for the Crusaders.

Oak Glen boys top Edison

RICHMOND — The Oak Glen boys soccer team blanked Edison on Tuesday, 4-0.
