Big Red girls soccer blanks Brooke in OVAC consolation

STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red girls soccer team had a strong start to the week, topping visiting Brooke 5-0 in an OVAC consolation match at Harding Stadium on Monday.

Big Red all-time leading scorer Bailee Beall added to her totals with a pair of goals and three assists on the night, while Gianna Thomas also tallied a pair of goals and Jailyn Crites also scored for Steubenville.

Lucy Saccoccia had an assist, while Sadie Edwards (four saves) and Jodeci Green (six saves) combined for the shutout in goal.

Big Red, which improved to 9-2-1 on the season, will be back in action today hosting East Liverpool on senior night as it looks to reach double digits in the win column.

Edison tops Buckeye Local

CONNORVILLE — The Edison volleyball team picked up a four set win over Buckeye Local on the road Monday, 25-21, 13-25, 25-20, 25-14.

Sophia Henderson had 21 assists, 11 digs, 10 kills, six points and four blocks, Aliya Glover tallied 17 kills, 12 digs, three blocks, five points and four aces and Graclynn Dray had 12 points, eight digs, four kills, four aces and three blocks.

The Wildcats (5-14) host Catholic Central on “Dig Pink Night” to close the regular season.

Buckeye Local (5-13) is back at home today hosting Shadyside.
