Big Red girls soccer rolls to victory to close regular season

STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red girls soccer team finished the regular season on a high note on Tuesday night.

Steubenville posted a shutout for the seventh time in 16 regular season games, blanking visiting Linsly 6-0 on Reno Saccoccia Field inside Harding Stadium.

Big Red wraps up the regular season with a strong 12-2-2 mark heading into tournament action.

Bailee Beall, the program’s all-time leading scorer, added three more tallies to her total as she scored a hat trick and added an assist in the win to factor into four of the six goals.

Jaylin Crites netted a pair of goals for Big Red, while Gianna Thomas had a goal and two assists and Lucy Saccoccia had an assist.

Big Red is back at home to begin tournament play on Monday, hosting Zanesville in the opening round of the East District tournament.

Weir blanks Edison

RICHMOND — The Weir High boys soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory on the road at Edison on Tuesday evening.

Big Red falls at Morgantown

MORGANTOWN — The Big Red volleyball team dropped a sweep to Morgantown on the road in the OVAC Class 5A tournament semifinals on Tuesday, 25-9, 25-8, 25-12.

Big Red was the No. 4 seed, while the Mohigans are the No. 1 seed.

Big Red drops to 11-10 on the season, while Morgantown improves to 25-4-1.

Morgantown will meet No. 2 eed John Marhall in Saturday’s OVAC championship game.
