Crusaders beat Huskies for back-to-back victories
CADIZ — The Catholic Central girls basketball team earned another victory on Saturday.
The Crusaders made it back-to-back wins and improved their record to 4-2 with a 38-24 victory on the road at Harrison Central.
Central out-scored the Huskies 15-1 in the second quarter to take control and stayed in front from there.
Leading the way was a double-double from Mary Rohde, who netted 12 points and 14 rebounds. Mara Delaney also netted 12 points, while Shya Garcia netted five in her first varsity start and Monica Bolster tallied four.
Kelsey Powers led the Huskies (3-4) with nine points, while Mikayala Pelegreen netted six.
The Crusaders host Shadyside on Thursday, while the Huskies travel to Buckeye Local today.
Creek rolls at Weir
WEIRTON — The Indian Creek girls basketball team kept its undefeated start to the season rolling Saturday with a 67-32 victory on the road at Weir High.
The Redskins, now 6-0, trailed by three after one but out-paced the Red Riders 27-2 in the second quarter to take control.
Kaydence Walker led the way with a monster double-double recording a career-high 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Riley Sadler also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Gracie Klinesmith netted 10 points to put three in double digits.
Weir High (1-4) was led by 12 points from freshman standout Ryann Jeter.
Creek is on the road at East Liverpool tonight, while Weir High hosts Big Red tonight.
