Red Knights girls top Wellsville 55-31
WELLSVILLE — The Toronto girls basketball team got back in the win column on Wednesday, going on the road and snapping a three-game slide with a 55-31 victory at Wellsville.
The Red Knights improve to 3-6.
They earned the victory while only having five players dressed. All five scored and four of the five finished in double figures. Jayna Reeves led the way with 16 points, while Olivia Owings tallied 14, Josey Dickinson 12 and Lily Sapp 11.
The Knights led 16-8 after one and 32-21 at halftime, and despite no subs did not slow down in the second half, out-scoring the Tigers 23-10 in the final two quarters.
Toronto is at Bridgeport today.
Golden Bears win battle of the bridge
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen girls basketball team rolled to a 55-22 win over cross-river rival East Liverpool on Wednesday night at home.
Mikalyn Balch netted 18 points to lead the Golden Bears, now 3-1, while Ella Stewart netted 13.
Oak Glen is back at home Monday in another rivalry game, hosting Weir High.
