Crusaders earn sweep of Madonna
WEIRTON — The Catholic Centtal girls basketball team went on the road and earned a repeat victory over rival Madonna, 55-39, Saturday afternoon for a season sweep of the Blue Dons.
Mary Rohde led the Crusaders with 14 points, while Aurelia Hoover tallied 12 and Shya Garcia netted 11 to put three in double digits for Central.
Taylor Birkhimer led Madonna with 13 points.
The win evens Central’s record at 5-5. They take on undefeated Edison at home on Monday night.
Madonna (3-4) travels to Heartland Christian on Jan. 3.
Walker leads Creek to big win
WINTERSVILLE — Kaydence Walker tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead Indian Creek to a big win over visiting Dover on Saturday at Coach D Court, 50-34.
The win improves the Redskins to 9-1 on the season.
Riley Sadler tallied 19 points and Gracie Wiley eight for Creek, who hosts Brooke on Tuesday.
Huskies fall to Mustangs
CADIZ — The Harrison Central girls basketball team dropped a 54-44 decision to visiting Claymont on Saturday afternoon.
Emily Cope led the Huskies, now 4-6, with 16 points, while Ella Smith tallied 11.
The Huskies play Buckeye 8 foes on back-to-back days Monday and Tuesday as they travel to Beaver and Buckeye Local.
