Edison girls get big win over Bellaire, move to 10-0
RICHMOND — The Edison girls basketball team’s best start in recent memory continess.
The Wildcats hosted perennial OVAC power Bellaire Friday night in a battle of teams near the top of their OVAC class, and picked up a big win over the Big Reds, 50-32.
Edison, which improves to 10-0 with the win, is off to its best start in more than two decades.
The Wildcats held a 10-9 lead after a close first quarter and led 21-14 at halftime. Edison then out-paced the Big Reds (8-4) 29-18 in the second half to pull away.
Sophia Henderson knocked down six 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 18 points.
Abby Carpenter netted 15 and Abby Boka tallied 11 for a trio in double digits.
Edison looks to continue its strong start on Monday when it travels to Toronto for a 6 p.m. tip.
