Edison gets big road win
MAGNOLIA — The Edison girls basketball team went on the road and picked up a big win over Sandy Valley, 53-50.
The Wildcats continued their unbeaten start to the season with the win, improving to now 13-0 on the season.
The game was a meeting between the No. 2 and No. 6 ranked teams in the first MaxPreps RPI Division V East Distict rankings.
Edison held a 14-13 lead after one and a 23-22 lead at halftime and the game was knotted up at 39-39 going to the fourth quarter before Edison came out on top in the final eight minutes.
Abby Carpenter had a huge game for the Wildcats, leading the way with 24 points, while Lacie Pelley netted 17.
Edison hosts Weir High on Thursday.
Indian Creek falls at Carrollton
CARROLLTON — The Indian Creek girls basketball team dropped a close battle with Carrollton on the road Monday, 44-39.
The game was a meeting of the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the first MaxPreps RPI Division IV East Distict rankings.
Creek falls to 13-2, while Carrollton improves to 10-4.
The Redskins led 11-5 after one and 20-17 at halftime before taking a 33-29 lead to the fourth quarter, but the Warriors out-paced them 15-6 in the final eight minutes.
Creek was led by 14 points from Kaydence Walker and nine each from Riley Sadler and Gracie Klinesmith.
Creek takes on Union Local on Saturday in the Buckeye 8 Championship.
Red Devils top Red Knights
TORONTO — The Toronto girls basketball team dropped a 49-39 decision to visitng St. Clairsville on Monday night at home.
Haley Bodnar led Toronto with 17 points, while Josey Dickinson tallied nine.
The Red Knights (4-10) hosts Bridgeport on Wednesday.
Heartland fends off Madonna
COLUMBIANA — The Madonna girls basketball team dropped a 49-39 decision at Heartland Christian on Monday night.
Sophie Brady led the Blue Dons with 12 points.
