Red Riders boys top Indian Creek
WEIRTON — The Weir High boys basketball team earned a big win over visiting Indian Creek on Tuesday night, 62-47.
The now 4-7 Red Riders were led by three players in double figures as Angelo DoBraska netted 15, Cayden Braswell 14 and Ryant Lyons 13.
The Redskins (3-12) were led by Nishon White with a game-high 17 and Bruce Mazar with 10.
In the win, the Red Riders had more assists (10) than turnovers committed (6).
Weir is at Oak Glen on Friday night, while Indian Creek takes on Union Local in the Buckeye 8 event at the ECO Center on Saturday.
Central fends off Madonna
WEIRTON — The Catholic Central boys basketball team snapped a four-game slide by holding off cross river rival Madonna on the road Tuesday, 57-50.
The Crusaders, now 6-9, were led by 14 points from Michael Fabbro, 13 from Rahim Mitchell and 11 from Luke Bryan.
Madonna (1-13) got a game-high 20 from Reno Fuscardo, 11 from Jake Druga and 10 from Luke Wingett.
Central hosts Bishop Rosecrans on Friday, while Madonna travels to Valley on Friday.
Brooke gets big win
WELLSBURG — The Brooke boys basketball team avenged an earlier loss to East Liverpool with a 65-46 win over the Potters at home on Tuesday.
The win lifts the Bruins to 8-4 and earned them a second place finish in the Buckeye 8, giving them a spot in Saturday’s conference championship game against St. C inside the ECO Center.
Crosby Morris led the Bruins with 23 points and six rebounds, while Andrew Murdock tallied 12 points and eight assists and Grant Yost recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.
Golden Bears get a win
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen boys basketball team earned a repeat win over Wellsville on Tuesday, 68-51, and improved to 7-3 in the process.
The Golden Bears were led by Gavin Geisse with 14 points, Mason Kell with 12 and Noah Willey with 11.
Oak Glen hosts rival Weir High on Friday.
