Creek bounces back

WINTERSVILLE — The Indian Creek girls basketball team earned a big bounce back win on Thursday, 43-34 over visiting Bellaire on Coach D Court.

The win snapped a 3-game slide and improves the Redskins record to 14-4.

Kaydence Walker led Creek with a game-high 21 points, while Gracie Klinesmith tallied 13.

Creek is at John Marshall on Wednesday for its last game prior to the OVAC tournament.

Brooke tops St. Clairsville

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Brooke girls basketball team topped St. Clairsville 49-36 for a road victory on Thursday night.

The Bruins host Cambridge next Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Huskies fall to Ferry

CADIZ — The Harrison Central boys basketball team’s fourth-quarter rally came up short as the Huskies dropped a 64-57 decision to visiting Martins Ferry on Thursday.

The Huskies (3-11) netted 25 points in the fourth quarter after getting into an 18-point hole through three quarters.

Bryson Kamarec led the way with 22 points, while Cooper Thompson netted 14.

The Huskies play Barnesville today in Buckeye 8 consolation action at the ECO Center.

SWIMMING

Bruins, Bears win in the pool

WELLSBURG — Brooke’s girls and Oak Glen’s boys won team scoring in a tri match with Weir High Thursday at the Brooke Wellness Center.

The Bruins won the overall team scoring.

Individually for Brooke, Ivy Myers (girls 200 free, 100 back), Ryan Kettler (boys 200 free, 500 free), Kiersten Harvath (girls 200 IM, girls 100 butterfly), Landon Burge (boys 200 IM), Faith Farrell (girls 50 free), Gunner Yost (boys 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke) and Lindsey Kettler (girls 500 free) won events along with the girls 200 medley relay and girls 200 free relay teams.

For Oak Glen, Shawn Ware (boys 50 free) won an individual event and the boys 200 medley relay, boys 200 free relay, girls 400 free relay and boys 400 relay teams collected wins.

Weir’s Dacodah Roche won the girls 100 free and 100 breaststroke and Alex Palacios won the boys 100 free and 100 back.

Big Red rolls again

STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red girls basketball team improved to 16-1 with a 76-36 victory over Weir High, earning a season sweep of the Red Riders.

Big Red is at Bellaire on Monday, while Weir goes to Buckeye Local tonight.

BOWLING

Barnesville tops Brooke

WELLSBURG — The Barnesville Shamrocks boys and girls bowling squads picked up wins over the Brooke Bruins on Wednesday inside Brooke Lanes.

BOYS

Barnesville 2157, Brooke 1946

Brooke’s Jason Beliveau rolled a 211 with a 388 series. Teammate Ty Lallone rolled a 350 series.

Barnesville’s Cole Eddy rolled a 370 series and Bo Petling rolled a 204 with a 364 series.

GIRLS

Barnesville 1730, Brooke 1385

The Shamrocks’ Payton Bell had the high-game and high-series between the two teams, rolling a 178 with a 330 series. Trisha Johnson was close behind, rolling a 176 with a 321 series.

The Bruins’ Kaylee Tuttle rolled a 151 with a 295 series.
