OVAC TOURNAMENT
Central falls in semifinals
CALDWELL — The Catholic Central girls basketball team dropped a 71-45 decision on the road at Caldwell in the OVAC Class 2A semifinals on Monday night.
The Crusaders, the No. 3 seed, were within one point after one quarter, but the No. 2 seeded Redskins pulled away from there to reach Saturday’s championship game at the ECO Center.
Caldwell will meet Southern Local in the 2A final. The top-seeded Warriors defeated Shadyside in the other semifinal Monday.
OVAC CONSOLATIONS
Madonna tops Wellsville
WELLSVILLE — The Madonna girls basketball went on the road Monday and pulled away from Wellsville for a 40-19 win in OVAC Consolation Pool action.
Sophie Brady led the Blue Dons with 10 points, while Adalynne Welsh netted nine and Taylor Birkhimer eight.
The Blue Dons host Conotton Valley Thursday.
Toronto tops Brooke
WELLSBURG — The Toronto girls basketball team fended off Brooke on the road Monday night in OVAC Consolation Pool action, 60-56.
Lily Sapp had a big game for the Red Knights, netting a game-high 35 points, while Olivia Owings netted 15 as the two accounted for 50 of Toronto’s points.
Maddie Bowman tallied 24 for the Bruins and Kiera Kosut added 14.
Brooke goes to Linsly on Thursday, while Toronto hosts Valley.
