Weir High edges Buckeye Local

CONNORVILLE — Weir High and Buckeye Local’s boys basketball teams had quite the battle Friday.

Squaring off in OVAC consolation pool action, the Red Riders and Panthers went back and forth all-game long, ultimately with Weir High edging out a 56-54 victory.

Buckeye Local led by two at halftime and the game was tied going to the fourth quarter.

“I’m very proud of our poise and patience,” Weir coach Jason Angle said. “We played unselfishly. We came up big in clutch situations defensively and rebounding.”

The Red Riders (5-13) were led by 15 points from Ryant Lyons and 13 from Jonathan Horstman, each of whom hit three 3s.

The Panthers (6-16) got a game-high 20 points from Kyle Kirkland.

White’s monster night leads Creek

WINTERSVILLE — The Indian Creek boys basketball team got a huge game from senior standout Nishon White to lead the way to an OVAC consolation game victory over Barnesville on Friday, 60-34.

White netted a game-high 26 points and pulled down 24 rebounds for a monster double-double.

The win lifts Creek to 6-14 and gives them a sweep of their consolations games this week and wins in three of their last four games.

Golden Bears win at home

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen boys basketball team topped visiting Clay-Battelle in OVAC consolation action Friday, 63-49.

Oak Glen, now 12-7, was led by 17 points from Gavin Geisse.

Huskies top Shenadoah

SARAHSVILLE — Harrison Central knocked off Shenandoah 56-45 in an OVAC consolation game Friday, led by 15 points from Bryson Kamarac.

Edison wins at home

RICHMOND — The Edison boys basketball team defeated visiting Southern Local in OVAC consolation action Friday, 62-51.
