Big Red’s Nylah McShan a First Team All-Ohioan

MORE RECOGNITION — Big Red senior Nylah McShan was named First Team All-Ohio on Tuesday in Division III. McShan, a Ms. Basketball finalist and the East District Player of the Year, finished her career with more than 1,500 points and averaged a double-double this season.

COLUMBUS — The OHSAA announced the girls basketball All-Ohio lists for Divisions I, II and III on Tuesday in the latest release of the All-Ohio teams.

The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association from regular-season accomplishments.

The girls basketball All-Ohio teams for Divisions IV, V, VI and VII were announced on Monday. The boys basketball All-Ohio teams will be announced on today and Thursday.

Big Red had four girls players recognized in Division III, led by senior standout Nylah McShan.

McShan, who was the East District Player of the Year each of the last two seasons, was a finalist for the prestigious Ms. Basketball Award and helped Big Red set a school record for wins this season, was voted First Team All-Ohio.

She was a second team selection last year, making her a multi-time All-Ohioan.

She finished her career with more than 1,500 career points, 700 career rebounds and 150 careers assists. This season, she led Big Red in scoring (20.4 points per game), rebounds (10.3) and steals (3.6) and was second on the team in assists (2.6).

McShan is signed to continue her career in college at Clarion University.

Joining her in getting recognized by the OPSMA panel were sophomores Phynyx Fleming and Lucy Saccoccia and senior Bailee Beall.

Fleming (10.3 points), was a special mention All-Ohio selection. Saccoccia (9.8 points) and Beall (8.3 points) were honorable mention picks.
