Creek’s Kaydence Walker named first team All-Ohio

10 local players from four teams recognized in Divisions 4-7

COLUMBUS — The first round of All-Ohio honors were announced on Monday as the OHSAA released the lists for girls basketball Divisions IV, V, VI and VII.

The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association from regular-season accomplishments.

The girls basketball All-Ohio teams for Divisions I, II and III will be announced today. The boys basketball All-Ohio teams will be announced on Wednesday and Thursday.

Among those honored were 10 local players from four local teams.

Earning the highest honor locally was Indian Creek junior Kaydence Walker, who was named First Team All-Ohio in Division IV.

Walker averaged 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 steals this season in helping Creek complete an OVAC four-peat and reach the school’s first regional final.

She was also voted the East District Co-Player of the Year in Division IV this season by OPMSA members in the East District.

Joining her on the All-Ohio lists in Division IV were teammates senior Riley Sadler (10.6 points and 11 rebounds) and sophomore Gracie Klinesmith (9.6 points), both of whom were honorable mentions.

In Division V, Edison’s record-setting season resulted in three Wildcats being recognized.

Senior Sophia Henderson, who passed the 1,000 point mark and is headed to Muskingum University, earned special mention All-Ohio after averaging 14 points.

Juniors Abby Carpenter (16 points and nine rebounds) and Abby Boka (9.5 points and 6.2 assists) were named honorable mentions.

In Division VII, Catholic Central and Toronto each had a pair of players recognized.

For Central, standout senior Mary Rohde was named a special mention selection after averaging 12 points and 12.7 rebounds and junior Mara Delaney (14 points) was an honorable mention.

For Toronto, junior Jayna Reeves (17 points) was named a special mention and junior Josey Dickinson (9.6 points) was an honorable mention.
