CADIZ — Some of the area’s best senior basketball players will suit up one more time on Sunday.
The annual District 5 Coaches Association East-West All-Star Games will be played inside Harrison Central High School Sunday afternoon, and the rosters contain several players from local schools.
The girls game tips first at 2 p.m. followed by the boys at 4 p.m.
On the girls’ side, seven local players are on the East roster — Big Red’s Nylah McShan and Bailee Beall, Indian Creek’s Riley Sadler and Gabby Taylor, Catholic Central’s Mary Rohde, Edison’s Sophia Henderson and Harrison Central’s Kara Blackburn.
The coaching staff is all-local as well, as the team will be led by Edison head coach Mark Smyth, Big Red head coach Angie Forte and Edison assistant coach Ron Smyth.
On the boys’ side, six local players are on the roster — Big Red’s Cole Bowers and Tre’Von Wiggins, Indian Creek’s Nishon White, Toronto’s Austin Buchanan, Edison’s Bryce Rogers and Harrison Central’s Bryson Kamarec.
Coaching the team will be Toronto head coach Sean Tucker, who earlier in the day will be inducted into the District 5 Hall of Fame. He will be joined by his assistant coaches from the Red Knights, Chad Daugherty and John Lester.
The price of admission for the event is $10.
