Creek pounces on the Panthers to go to 2-0

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team made it two wins over Buckeye Local in as many outings to start the season on Thursday, improving to 2-0 with an 11-0 victory over the Panthers on Muth Field.

The Redskins also defeated Buckeye Local (0-2) on opening day Monday.

James Brothers had a double, single and four RBIs, while Logan Wedlake drove in a pair of runs and Hunter Rusnak and Sylus Hyde each had a double and a single in the win.

Parker Heath tossed a gem on the mound, firing a five-inning, two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and no walks. Both of the Panthers hits were singles.

Creek is slated to be back in action today at Big Red for a 4 p.m. first pitch. Buckeye Local hosts a doubleheader against East Liverpool today at 2 and 5 p.m.

Oak Glen blanks Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — The Oak Glen baseball team shut out Columbiana on Thursday evening, 6-0.

The win snapped a five-game slide for the Bears.

James Rohbeck had two singles and two RBIs, Kaden Dregisich had a double and a single, Noah Willey tripled and Cam Dittman had two hits and an RBI.

On the mound, Willey fired the complete game, four-hit shutout, striking out 13 batters and walking two.

Oak Glen hosts Catholic Central on Monday.

Edison gets big win over Oak Glen

RICHMOND — The Edison softball team picked up an impressive win over defending West Virginia state champ Oak Glen on Thursday, 5-2.

Edison improves to 6-1, while Oak Glen drops to 5-4.

Alivia Hanlin blasted a homer, had three hits and drove in four runs to lead the way while Abby Boka had a double and a single, Bella Cronin and Sophia Henderson also doubled and Chloe Peckens drove in a run.

Bristol Leanza tallied the win in the circle, striking out one and walking one in going the distance.

For Oak Glen, Brayley Lash had a double and a single, Kynslee Landess had a double and two singles and Neveah Heath doubled in a run.

Oak Glen hosts Linsly today, while Edison travels to Indian Creek on Monday.

Madonna stays unbeaten

WEIRTON — The Madonna softball team edged visiting Wellsville 2-0 on Thursday evening at Starvaggi Park to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Madi Owens provided all the offense with a two-run, inside the park homer.

In the circle, Kendal Ryan made those runs stand up with a 14-strikeouts complete game shutout, limiting the Tigers to two hits.

Madonna looks to stay undefeated when they visit Catholic Central on Tuesday.
