Creek stays undefeated

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team cruised to a 9-0 win over visiting East Liverpool Monday in the first one a home and home set with the Potters to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Luke McVicker had a double and two singles, Hunter Rusnak doubled, Gavin Pownall had two hits and Logan Wedlake and Garrin Clark each plated two runs for Creek.

James Brothers fired all seven innings, striking out nine and walking four in the complete game shutout.

The teams rematch Wednesday in East Liverpool.

Edison drops first loss

RICHMOND — Edison fell to visiting Carrollton on Monday, 10-7, suffering its first defeat of the season in four outings.

Brady Haught had two RBIs and Kayden Russell and Chase Freeman each plated a run for Edison. Bryce Rogers took the loss on the mound, striking out four in 3 2/3 innings in the start.

Edison hosts Brooke today.

SOFTBALL

Red Riders roll past Central

STEUBENVILLE — After more than a week off, the Red Riders rolled past Catholic Central, 19-0, on Monday in their return to the field for a season sweep of the Crusaders.

Eliza Utt had a double, single and three RBIs, Zoe Spencer drove in four runs with three hits, Illiana Kirlangitis drove in two runs with two hits and Bella Weber had two hits and an RBI.

In the circle, Utt struck out five of six she faced in the first two innings and Weber fanned four in the final three innings.

Weir, now 5-2, is at Brooke today. Central (0-8) hosts Madonna today.
