Madonna gets big win to stay undefeated

MORGANTOWN — The Madonna softball team picked up a big 14-3 victory over Morgantown Trinity on the road on Friday evening to improve to a still unblemished 11-0 on the season.

The Blue Dons fell behind 2-0 early, but plated 14 of the last 15 runs to storm away with the win.

Geena Birkhimer had double, single and three RBIs, Madi Owens had a double and two RBIs, Peyton Conley doubled, Riley Birkhimer and Tina Littleton each had two RBIs and Elaine Foresha drove in three runs for Madonna.

Conley fired all five innings in the run rule shortened win, striking out nine and walking two.

Oak Glen wins fourth-straight

HAMLIN — The Oak Glen softball team went on the road to Lincoln County on Friday and earned a 5-0 win, their fourth-consecutive victory to improve to 9-4 on the season.

Kylie Robinson and Neveah Heath each crushed homers, Robinson finishing with two hits and two RBIs. Brayley Lash and Mattie Carney each had an RBI and Marleah Lough had two hits.

Carney struck out 10 batters in a complete game shutout in the circle.

BASEBALL

Redskins stay undefeated

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team built a lead, then plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to enact the run rule and clinch a 10-0 win over visiting Beaver Local on Friday.

The state-ranked Redskins improve to 7-0 on the season with the win.

Garrin Clark had two doubles, a single and an RBI, Adam Brothers had a double and an RBI, Gavin Pownall doubled, Quinn Ujchich had a double and an RBI, Logan Wedlake had two hits and an RBI and James Brothers had three hits and an RBI for Creek.

Adam Brothers fired all six innings on the mound for the win, striking out two and walking one.

Red Riders win big

WEIRTON — The Weir High baseball team bounced back Friday with a 14-3 win over visiting Berkeley Springs.

Kason Lash had two doubles and two RBIs, Aleks Zanieski had a double and drove in two runs, Matt Geer and Cayden Braswell each drove in two runs and Nick DiMatteis also had an RBI for the Red Riders (6-8)

Braswell struck out seven and walked one in four innings for the win on the mound, while Grant Upright had four strikeouts in the final inning of the run rule shortened win.
