Panthers comes back to top Creek

WINTERSVILLE — After falling behind by three runs in the third inning, the Buckeye Local softball team stormed back with the last five runs of the game to top Indian Creek on the road Wednesday, 6-4.

The Panthers (7-5) plated three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the score and added two more in the top of the seventh to take the lead, then hung on to finish a season sweep of the Redskins (5-12).

Danika Bauknecht had a double and two RBIs, Frankie Sawko had a triple and an RBI, Peyton Palmer drove in a run and Johanna George also tripled for the Panthers.

Karlie Lander fired a complete game, striking out seven and walking one.

For Creek, Peyton Rath had three singles and an RBI, Riley Sadler had a double, two singles and an RBI and Kylie Dray doubled in a run. Rath also had eight strikeouts in the circle.

Buckeye Local hosts Toronto today, while Indian Creek visits Martins Ferry on Monday.

Weir drops close battle at Park

WHEELING — Wheeling Park scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk-off a close, back-and-forth battle with Weir High on Wednesday, 7-6.

After both teams scored two in the first and Park took a 4-2 lead, the Red Riders (10-4) tied the game in the top of the fifth. Park took a 5-4 lead in the sixth, but Weir jumped back ahead with two in the top of the seventh before the Patriots late heroics in the bottom half.

Lila Boilegh continued her strong freshman season with a homer, double and single for Weir High, while Bella Weber had two doubles and two RBIs, Eliza Utt had two hits and an RBI and Loganne Barton had three hits and an RBI.

Utt struck out seven and walked two in loss in the circle.

The Red Riders travel to Edison today.

Brooke tops East Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Brooke softball team pulled away from East Liverpool on Wednesday for a 13-1 road win.

The Bruins (7-10) got two hits and an RBI each from Maggie Diserio and Eden McKinney, a double from Avary Martino and an RBI each from Avery Rado, Emma Bober, Gabby Hornick and Emma Michel.

McKinney struck out five and walked in in a complete game in the circle.

Brooke hosts Harrison Central today.

Brooke wins big

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Brooke baseball team bounced back from its tough loss to Big Red in a big way on Wednesday evening, going on the road and pulling away for a 26-0 win at East Liverpool.

Zac O’Mery had a monster game, hitting a homer, a double, finishing 5 of 6 with eight RBIs. Andrew Murdock was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, including a double. Aiden Lathem and Ethan Vaughn had two RBIs each and Blaine Beatty had three hits, including a double, and an RBI.

Tyson Klick struck out five and did not issue a walk in a five inning complete game.

Brooke (6-11-1) visits John Marshall today.

Weir falls on the road

BLACKSVILLE – The Weir High baseball team dropped a 7-3 decision on the road at Clay-Battelle on Wednesday.

Teddy Glyptis had two hits for the Red Riders (6-10), while Aleks Zanieski, Cayden Braswell and Nick DiMatteis each had an RBI.

Weir visits Linsly today.

Bears fall to Dragons

CAMERON — The Oak Glen baseball team dropped a 5-3 loss on the road at Cameron on Wednesday.

Cam Dittman and Kaden Dragisich each had a hit and an RBI fir the Golden Bears (5-12), while Noah Willey had 11 strikeouts in the loss on the mound. Just two of the five runs were earned.

Oak Glen hosts Shadyside today.
