Big Red falls in 5A semis

ELM GROVE — After having to wait three days due to the rain, the Big Red softball team finally got to plays its OVAC semifinal on Saturday.

Unfortunately for Big Red, it did not end up being worth the wait as University (18-4) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth and did not look back in taking a 7-0 victory to advance to the championship game against top seed John Marshall.

Big Red was held to one hit on the day, a Gena Smith single. Isaballa Cadile struck out two and walked one in the circle. She was charged with just three earned runs.

Steubenville (10-7) will look to bounce back Tuesday back at the I-470 Complex taking on Wheeling Central.
