Locals selected on All-OVAC lists

The OVAC related the annual all-conference teams this week and 21 local players were among those recognized.

Last week Big Red’s Sadie Edwards (5A), Weir High’s Eliza Utt (4A) and Madonna’s Madi Owens were announced as conference Players of the Year in their classes.

5A

Edwards and teammate Sophia Zorne were selected on the All-OVAC first team from Big Red, while Brooke’s Averi Rado was also a first team pick.

On the second team was Brooke’s Eden McKinney.

4A

Utt was one of a trio from the Red Riders selected on the first team, joined by teammates Bella Weber and Lila Boilegh.

Oak Glen and Edison each had a pair of first team selections, while Buckeye Local, Harrison Central and Indian Creek each had one.

The Golden Bears’ honorees were Mattie Carney and Neveah Heath, while Wildcats’ picks were Abigail Boka and Sophia Henderson.

Indian Creek’s Rylee Sadler, Buckeye Local’s Karlie Lander and Harrison Central’s Mikyala Pelegreen were also first teamers.

Each local school in the class was also represented on the second team — Loganne Barton from Weir, Mikalyn Balch from Oak Glen, Danica Bauknecht from Buckeye Local, Delani Sull from Harrison Central, Ava Hanlin from Edison and Kylie Dray from Indian Creek getting the nod.

Toronto had two first team picks and one second team selection.

The Red Knights’ Jaylee Brown and JJ Rebich were honored on the first team, and Lily Sapp was picked for the second team.

1A

Owens led a trio of Blue Dons to make the first team, joined by Peyton Conley and Kendall Ryan.

The Dons’ Geena Birkhimer was a second team selection.
