MOUNDSVILLE — A big fifth inning proved to be the difference for Moundsville Post 3 on Wednesday evening as they topped Steubenville Post 33, 9-3.

Moundsville scored five runs in the fifth inning to turn a 3-0 lead into 8-0. Steubenville (0-2) battled back with three in the sixth.

Post 33 got a three-hit day from Nolan Greiner, while Kole Yourkovich had a hit and an RBI and Joseph Vranish and Jason Westlake also each had a hit for Steubenville.

Westlake fired the first three innings for Post 33, striking out three and walking four. Vranish went the next two and Kailub Shonkwiler threw the sixth for Steubenville.

Post 33 is set to host a doubleheader against Barnesville Post 153 on Saturday at Fred Heatherington Field at 10 a.m. and noon.
