TORONTO OPENS WITH A WIN

SALINEVILLE -- The Toronto Red Knights started their season with a dominant road victory, 33-0, at Southern Local on Friday night.

The Red Knights took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter and led 19-0 at halftime on the way to the big win.

Max Rebich had a big night to lead the way for the Red Knights, tossing four touchdowns passes and throwing for 240 yards in the victory.

Drake Bouscher caught two touchdown tosses, Brody Close and Colt Joynson each hauled in one and Christian Briggs recovered a blocked punt for another score.

Toronto is on the road again next Friday at Newcomerstown.

EDISON FALLS IN CLOSE GAME

COSHOCTON -- The Edison football team’s season started off with a tough loss in a close battle at Coshocton on Friday night.

The Wildcats took a 21-17 lead in the fourth quarter, but Coshocton was able to score late to take the 24-21 victory on their home field.

Edison led 7-3 after the first quarter and 14-3 at halftime before Coshocton tallied 21 second-half points.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back on the road at Carrollton next Friday.

HUSKIES FALL AT CLAYMONT

UHRICHSVILLE -- Harrison Central’s youthful squad fell behind early and never got back into the game, falling 43-0 in the Battle of Tappan Lake at Claymont on Friday night.

The Mustangs opened a 30-0 lead at halftime.

Harrison Central hosts East Palestine next Friday.
