Edison girls open season with a win
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The Edison girls golf team earned a victory in their home opener on Tuesday.
Taking on local foe Harrison Central in their first home match of the season at Spring Hills Golf Course, the Wildcats fired a team score of 169 to top the Huskies by 36 strokes.
Kallie McKeegan led the way for the Wildcats, carding a score of 33 to be the low score of the day.
Also for Edison, Bella Evans turned in a 41, Mady Cornell a 46 and Teagan Reynolds a 49.
The Wildcats are back in action on Aug. 14 at the Meadowbrook invite in Cambridge.
Panthers drop first loss
RAYLAND - Connor Best and Dylan Pielech each carded a 2-over par 38 Tuesday as Martins Ferry rolled past Buckeye Local, 155-192, in boys' high school golf action at Bec-Wood Golf Course.
Dugan Dobrovich led the Panthers with a 41.
It was the Panthers first defeat of the young season
