BEAVERS COME BACK TO EDGE BIG RED
CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local’s girls soccer team came back from a two goal deficit to defeat Steubenville 4-3 in an OVAC Class 5A semifinal on Monday.
Jaylin Crites scored with 22:11 left in the first half and Lucy Saccoccia added another with 11:07 left in the first half to push Big Red up 2-0.
Riley Springer assisted Peyton Dunn at the 8:26 mark of the first half then Dunn converted a penalty two minutes later to tie the game. A Kenzy Petrelle penalty kick with 40 seconds left in the half put Big Red up at the break following a Dunn missed penalty kick with 22 seconds left.
A nifty turnaround shot by Dunn with 23:41 left in the game tied the game. Leah Stewart supplied the game-winner with 3:21 left for the Beavers.
Top-seeded Beaver Local will play No. 2 seed University at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the final at St. Clairsville. University was a 5-4 winner of Wheeling Park on Monday.
BOYS
ST. C TOPS THE HUSKIES
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Red Devils advanced through their OVAC 4A boys soccer semifinal by doubling up the visiting Huskies, 6-3.
St. Clairsville is the No. 2 seed in the OVAC 4A tournament and will face the winner of Tuesday's No. 4 Oak Glen at No. 1 Union Local matchup in the championship game.

CENTRAL WINS BIG AT JM
GLEN DALE -- The Catholic Central girls soccer team went on the road to John Marshall on Monday and rollto an 8-1 victory over the Monarchs.
The Crusaders got two goal and an assist from Zelie Baillargeon, a goal and an assist each from Lily Krivoniak, Aurelia Hoover and Julia Kuebler, a goal each from Delaney Dankert and Monica Flannery and an assist each from Clara Anderson and Zoe Wise.
Addie Long made two saves in net and Mia Doyle four saves.
The Crusaders, now 5-5-1, take on Indian Creek on Wednesday in an OVAC consolation pool game.
