TORONTO -- Something is going to have to give Friday when unbeatens Toronto and Brookfield meet on the gridiron.
The Toronto football team will take on Brookfield for the first time when the two teams meet at 7 p.m. Friday night at Clarke Hinkle Field.
The Red Knights remained undefeated on the season as Toronto rallied to dispatch Newcomerstown, 27-20, this past Friday night out at Lee Stadium.
"We started in a deficit, but we slowly dug in," Toronto (2-0) head coach Jaret Aubiel said. "We battled back. We were able to come back and come away with a huge road win."
Brookfield defeated Springfield, 35-18, this past week on the road to also move to 2-0 on the season.
"Brookfield is very talented," Aubiel said. "They have a lot of ballcarriers. They run the ball. They're fast. They're physical. They are going to be a huge challenge for us."
The Warriors want to run the ball on offense.
"They are a running team," Aubiel said. "They do have the ability to throw. They win or lose with their run game."
Brookfield opened the season by defeating Hubbard, 14-7, at home.
"Defensively, they are big, and they are fast," Aubiel said. "Their team speed is big for them. The can cover. They are the total package on defense."
The boys from Trumbull County are in Ohio Division VI, Region 21.
"Size-wise, I would say we are probably even," Aubiel said. "They have some guys who are big, they have guys who are strong and they have guys who are fast. They are going to be a good challenge for us."
The boys from the Gem City opened the season with a 33-0 victory via mercy rule against Southern Local up at Wigwam Stadium.
The game against the Warriors will be the first home game of the season for the Red-and-White.
"Absolutely," Aubiel said asked if his team was excited to be playing at home for the first time this season. "When you spend the first two weeks of the season, it is going to be nice to play inside the friendly confines of Clarke Hinkle Field. We are excited."
It will not be easy, but Toronto has a plan in place to defeat Brookfield.
"We are going to have to win the turnover battle, we are going to have to block and we are going to have to tackle," Aubiel said.
