TORONTO -- The Toronto football team took care of business against Jefferson County rival Buckeye Local last week.

The Red Knights scored the first 42 points of the game en route to a 42-13 victory against the Panthers on Buckeye Local's Homecoming last Friday night in the rain on Ron Pobolish Field inside World War II Memorial Stadium.

"I think our kids handled it pretty well," Toronto (8-1) head coach Jaret Aubiel said about the rain. "We practiced all week with a wet football in preparation for Friday night, and it paid off. Our kids responded well."

With the win, the boys from the Gem City secured a top four finish and a first-round bye in the upcoming Ohio Division VII, Region 27 playoffs.

"It is great to get a home game and a bye," Aubiel said. "It is going to be beneficial for us. Wehn you are a small school and you play the type of scheduled we have played, it catches up to you. It is going to give us time to recover. We have some things we have to fix, and it is going to give us time to fix them."

This week, it is all about the seniors for the Red-and-White as Toronto is set to take on Cameron on Senior Night at 7 p.m. Friday night at home inside Clarke Hinkle Field.

"You always want to see your seniors get a win on Senior Night," Aubiel said. "They have put a lot of work into this program, and you always like to see things turn out well for them."

The Dragons are 5-2 on the season.

"Cameron is really good," Aubiel said. "They are tough. They are disciplined. They are quick. They do a good job on offense and on defense. They run the ball well. Defensively, they have a lot of speed. They are gap sound. They know their assignments. We have been impressed by what we have watched on film."

Cameron enters play this week coming off a 13-8 loss to Monroe Central last Friday night at home.

"They are primarily a running team," Aubiel said. "They do things similar to what Monroe Central does, and we had a hard time with that against them."

The boys from Marshall County has wins against Clay-Battelle (42-0), Valley (48-6), Tucker county (42-6), Bridgeport (60-6) and Frontier (46-14).

"They run a three front, but sometimes they will run a four front," Aubiel said. "They do both. They have really-good speed. They are tough. They are physical."

Cameron's other loss came against River (25-20) in the Dragons' third game of the season.

"We want to control the line of scrimmage, and we want to limit our turnovers," Aubiel said.

Cameron is in position to make the playoffs once again in West Virginia.

"They are not big, but they play fast," Aubiel said. "They do a good job. It is going to be a good game."

After entering last week's game in second place in its region, Toronto has dropped back down to third place behind Symmes Valley and Danville.
