Dominant second half lifts Panthers

CONNORVILLE -- A dominating second-half performance lifted the Buckeye Local basketball team to an 82-49 victory over Bridgeport on Friday.

Jake Mayle led the Panthers (2-1) with a game-high 23 points. Cameron Grabits tallied 14 points, while Cameron Best added 12.

Buckeye Local tentatively travels to Martins Ferry on Tuesday.

CALCUTTA -- The Indian Creek boys basketball team could not hang on to a seven-point lead after three quarters and fell to Beaver Local, 40-39, on Friday.

The Beavers outscored the Redskins (1-2), 14-6, in the final frame.

Isaiah Vandine led Indian Creek with 17 points. Landon Pownall scored nine points, and Mitch Williams added five.

The Redskins tentatively will host East Liverpool on Tuesday.
