Edison Wildcats walk-off over Indian Creek Redskins, 5-4
RICHMOND — The Edison softball team walked off with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning over Indian Creek, 5-4, on Monday.
Audrey Scott started for the Wildcats and allowed four runs on 10 hits, two walks and struck out nine through six innings. Katie Fluharty pitched an inning in relief and grabbed the victory, striking out one.
Carley Jo Penner tossed the first five frames for the Redskins. She allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, one walk and struck out three. Keeley Amis took the loss in 1/3 of an inning.
Pressley Meadows cranked a solo home run for Edison. Alayna Meadows doubled. Mychi Stewart had a single, two RBIs and three stolen bases. Scott added a single and a run batted in.
For Creek offensively, Maddie Ely hit a homer and drove home a pair. Emily Buchanan singled twice and had an RBI. Trinity Taylor also had two singles. Lexi Smarella added a single and an RBI.
CCHS sweeps JCC
STEUBENVILLE — On Saturday, the Catholic Central softball squad swept Jefferson Country Christian, 17-14 and 11-9.
In Game 1, Ellen Hanood earned the victory in the circle. Bella Zinno and Kaylee Kirkpatrick each had a single, double and three RBIs. Natalia Dunburg-Ingram tallied a double and three runs batted in.
In the second contest, Jayda Jones got the win with seven strikeouts. She also recorded a single, double and three RBIs at the plate. Adriana LeFever had a single, double and two RBIs. Gianna Scugoza produced a triple and three RBIs.
Overall, the Crusaders won four times last week and are 5-2 overall.
Monroe Central 10, CCHS 1
STEUBENVILLE — The Monroe Central baseball team cooled down Catholic Central, 10-1, on Monday.
Ryan Anderson started and took the loss in five innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, four walks and struck out a pair. Alex Solema tossed the final two games.
Andrew Dorsey recorded the team’s lone two hits with singles. David Kissinger collected an RBI.
