Beaver Local sweeps Golden Bears

CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local is flying high in early season volleyball play.

The Beavers swept Oak Glen 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 on Wednesday.

For Oak Glen, Ashlyn Six had seven kills and an ace. McKenzi Martin added six kills, Emma Renfro had three kills and ab ace. Teya Hall had seven digs. Gracie Wright had 19 assists.

Beaver Local's jayvees were 25-20, 25-21 winners.

For Oak Glen, Kesnington McConnachie had five kills, two digs and five assists. Reeceleyn Craig had five kills and 10 digs. Avery Hall had five digs.

Toronto suffers first defeat

TORONTO -- The Toronto's volleyball team lost for the first time in 2021, falling in four sets at home Wednesday night to Monroe Central, 14-25, 24-26, 25-14, 14-25.

For the Red Knights, Ashton Thomas had seven kills and five blocks, Hannah Dobbs 13 kills and 16 digs, Leah Price four kill and four blocks, Taylie Thomas 64 digs, Michelle Anderson four kills and 14 digs and Andrea Reeves 24 assists.

Toronto, now 3-1, travels to Big Red today for a 5:30 jayvee start.

John Marshall tops Harrison Central, CCHS

CADIZ -- The Harrison Central and Catholic Central golf teams came up short of John Marshall Wednesday at Cadiz Country Club.

The Monarchs won the tri-match with a 162, while the Huskies finished with a 178 and the Crusaders a 184.

Harrison Central's Aiden Silva was the match medalist with a score of 38, followed by teammates Nash Roberts (39), Heath Clay (48) and Wyatt Foreman (53).

Central was led by Olivia Gibas with a 45, while Brendan Schaefer and Johnny O'Karma each shot 46. Vince Barcalow finished with a 47.
