Beaver Local pulls away from Big Red

CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local girls basketball earned a convincing victory over Steubenville on Monday, 47-29.

Jordan Palmer led the Beavers (4-5) with 15 points and teammate Peyton Roberts added 13 points.

Beaver outscored Big Red (1-3) in the second half, 31-14.

Steubenville got five points from Sabria Jones and Maggi Cucarese.

Beaver Local visits East Liverpool on Dec. 30

Beaver Local won the JV game, 27-23.

Addi Eells scored nine points and Kamryn Young added five points for the Beavers (3-6). Big Red got nine points for Analisa Perdue.

Teammate Sarah Ostrovich added six points.

Martins Ferry edges Indian Creek 

WINTERSVILLE -- After trailing by six points at halftime, the Indian Creek girls basketball team got back within one headed to the fourth quarter, but ultimately Martins Ferry prevailed for a 51-46 victory Monday night. 

The Redskins were led by 12 points from Kylie Anderson, while Abby Starkey added nine points and Cam Ketron eight. 

The Purple Riders got a game-high 14 points from Lindsay Best.
