STEUBENVILLE -- Catholic Central let a double-digit third quarter slip away then rallied to earn a 53-46 victory over Jefferson County Christian Tuesday inside the Mickey Barber Gymnasium.

The Crusaders, who collected their second consecutive victory, were on fire from behind the arc early in the entertaining contest. Freshman Benji Rook and sophomore Daniel Bolster both drained four 3-pointers in the first half as Don Ogden's club grabbed a 33-27 lead. Junior Andrew Dorsey also swished a long ball.

Dorsey connected twice from downtown to start the third and Central went ahead by 12 (39-27). Three balls by Noah Wineberg and Ben Adams along with four Carl Young points helped the Royals close to within four (41-37).

The quarter ended with a triple by junior Mason Gump and the Crusaders were up 41-40 heading into the final eight minutes. Senior Derrick McMasters opened the fourth with consecutive hoops to put the Royals, now 4-2, ahead 44-41.

Central then put together an 8-0 scoring run to regain command. Freshman Tommy Pergi got things started with a bucket from the paint. Rook buried another triple and Dorsey scored on a put back. A free throw by Bolster made it 49-44 Crusaders.

JCC's Carl Young, a senior, cut the lead to three with a jumper inside. Free throws by Dorsey, Bolster and Pergi put the victory on ice for the Crusaders.
