Weir High boys basketball paused until Monday due to a COVID issue
WEIRTON — The Weir High boys basketball team is pausing activities until Monday, Weir High School Athletic Director Donna Ferguson announced Thursday morning.
The pause, due to a COVID issue, affects both the varsity and junior varsity teams, neither of which will practice or play during the shutdown.
The Red Riders, who sit 6-5 on the season, were scheduled to host Big Red in the second game of a girls-boys doubleheader on Thursday night.
Weir was also scheduled to host North Marion on Saturday. No makeup dates have been announced.
The girls program is not affected. The Weir High boys freshmen team will also play on Saturday as scheduled.
The Red Riders next scheduled game following the pause is Tuesday hosting rival Brooke.
