Girls East District tournament brackets set

The fields are set for the upcoming girls basketball sectional and district tournaments, as the draw for the East District was held on Sunday.

Catholic Central is the lone area team that will host its first-round game, as the Crusaders earned the No. 7 seed in the Division IV East bracket and will host No. 10 seed Malvern in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16 inside the Mickey Barber Gymnasium.

The winner will travel to face No. 1 Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans in the sectional final at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19.

Also in Division IV, Toronto is the No. 13 seed and will travel to No. 3 Strasburg-Franklin for a 7 p.m. sectional semifinal on Feb. 16.

The winner advances to a sectional final against the winner of No. 6 Beallsville and No. 8 River at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19.

In the Division III, East 1 bracket, Edison is the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 6 West Muskingum at 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 for a sectional final.

Harrison Central is the No. 11 seed in the bracket and will travel to No. 8 McConnelsville Morgan for its sectional final at 7 p.m. on Feb. 17.

Buckeye Local is the No. 16 seed and drew No. 1 Union Local in the sectional semifinal round. The matchup between OVAC schools takes place at 1 p.m. on Feb. 12 in Belmont.

The winner of that game advances to see No. 18 seed Barnesville in the sectional final round.

In Divison II, East 1, Indian Creek is the No. 8 seed and will take on OVAC opponent St. Clairsville in the sectional final round on the road at 1 p.m. Feb. 19.

On the Division II, East 2 side of the bracket, Big Red is the No. 15 seed and is set to travel to New Concord to take on No. 3 seed John Glenn in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The winner advances to battle No. 14 East Liverpool in the sectional final at 1 p.m. on Feb. 19.
