Local runners help Franciscan indoor track team make history
Team takes runners-up honors at President’s Athletic Conference meet

The Franciscan University of Steubenville's men’s indoor track Team made history on Thursday by becoming the first track team in school history to earn runner-up in the President's Athletic Conference meet, finishing with a total of 108 points.
They Barons turned in the high score with just 10 individuals scoring. Two of those individuals are products of local high schools.
They are Big Red graduate Austen Duggan and Catholic Central graduate Joseph Rohde.
Barons point getters were Liam Galligan (38 pts) winning the 3k, mile, 5k, and 2nd in 4×4, Mark Borek (19 pts) 2nd in 3k, sixth in mile, and second in DMR, Duggan (18pts) third in mile, fifth in 800m, and second in 4×400, Rohde (16 pts) third in 400m, seventh in 200m, and second in 4×4, Miguel Daez (22pts) first in 800m, fifth in 3k, and secnd in DMR, Ryan Ozymy (nine pts) seventh in 400m and second in DMR, Easton Syvertson (11pts) sixth in 400m and second in DMR, David Capello (16 pts) second in 400m and second in 4×4, David Dinardo (five pts) fourth in 5k, and George Kafton (one pt) eighth in 3k. Rounding out the roster on the men’s team is James Ricketts, Nate Tokarsky, Matthew York, Francis Langley, Danny Donovan, Michael Sobus, Conal Delaney, Aidan Kay, Craig (Bruce) Shepardson, Charles Jardine, and Francisco Tona.
Franciscan was able to put up 108 points and a runner up spot without scoring in the 60m, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put, triple jump, and weight throw.
The men’s coaching staff consists of Vince Oliver (head coach), Carlo Fabian (assistant, Central grad), Jacob Baugher (assistant), and Jack Thornton (assistant).
On the women’s side the Barons also finished with placers. Alison Bryant won the 3k with a PAC record of 10:33.66, Jessica Campbell earned third in the 800m, Ashlin Lafond was sixthth in the 800m. The women also earned the top spot in the DMR which consisted of Bryant, Campbell, Lafond, and Shannon Wieszczek.
The women's team also consisted of Brigid Mack, Alice McAnespie, Rachel Hurley, Taylor Smith, Beatrice Wear, Kendra Antol, Sydney Lorentz, and Elizabeth Atkins.
