Two local softball teams advanced through the sectional tournament and will be battling for a district title in their respective divisions on Monday.
In Division II, Steubenville Big Red, the No. 10 seed, will meet No. 3 Tri-Valley at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School in New Philadelphia on Monday in the East 1 District semifinals.
Big Red topped Indian Creek 11-1 in its sectional final, while Tri-Valley took down West Holmes 12-1.
No. 2 Indian Valley and No. 12 Dover meet in the other semifinal on Monday. The winners will meet for the district title on Wednesday at a site to be announced.
In Division III, Harrison Central will meet Tuscarawas Valley on Monday in the East District semifinals. That game will be contested at Conotton Valley's home field in Bowerston.
The Huskies, the No. 2 seed, topped No. 14 Ridgewood 10-0 in the sectional semifinals and No. 8 Union Local 15-5 in the sectional final to reach the district tourney.
Tusky Valley, the No. 5 seed, blanked No. 15 Coshocton 10-0 in its sectional semifinal and then upset No. 3 Cambridge 10-3 in the sectional final to earn its spot.
The other semifinal is between No. 1 Martins Ferry and No. 4 Garaway on Monday.
The winners will meet for the Division III district crown on Wednesday at a site to be determined.
