Catholic Central fends off Bridgeport for key win

BRIDGEPORT -- Catholic Central got a key victory on Friday night on the road at Bridgeport, 15-14, for the Crusaders second-straight win and third of the season.
The Crusaders, now 3-5, jumped into the Division VII, Region 25 playoff picture after last week's win and picked up some more key computer points with the win over the Bulldogs.
Tyler Ialteni had 61 yards on 19 carries and threw for another 58 yards going 8 of 12 passing. Tommy Pergi led the Central ground attack with 80 yards on 13 carries, also hauling in four passes for 25 yards.
BJ Fallon hauled in three passes for 32 yards. Fallon also recovered a fumble for a TD. Pergi had Central's other score on a 40-yard run.
The Crusaders return home the final two weeks of the season, starting next Saturday to host Conotton Valley.
Beaver Local tops Indian Creek
CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local used a big second quarter to pull away from Indian Creek on Friday night for a 56-13 victory.
The Redskins got a 75-yard kick return touchdown from Isaac Robinson in the first quarter.
Robinson later hauled in a 58-yard Sal Barcalow pass in the third quarter for another score.
After leading 14-6 after one quarter, the now 6-2 Beavers scored four times in the second quarter and did not look back.
Zion McGee had 41 yards on 15 carries for Indian Creek, while Barcalow finished 5 of 14 for 68 yards.
The Redskins host Harrison Central next Friday.
Buckeye Local falls at home
YORKVILLE -- Visiting Tiffin Calvert pulled away from Buckeye Local for a 55-7 win at World War II Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
Calvert opened a 22-7 lead after one quarter and pushed the advantage to 43-7 by the halftime break.
The Panthers are back at home next week when unbeaten Edison comes to Yorkville.
