PREP ROUNDUP: Edison snaps skid, claws Panthers

RICHMOND -- JD Henderson ran for and threw for a touchdown and Talan McClurg found the end zone three times to help Edison bounce back from tough losses the last two weeks by defeating rival Buckeye Local 41-6 Friday night at the Edison Unified Sports Complex.

The Wildcats, now 6-2, remained in a playoff spot unofficially at No. 11 in Division V, Region 17 according to Joe Eitel's rankings following the win.

McClurg scored on runs of 5, 25 and 5 yards, while Henderson ran for a 5-yard score and connected with Deacon Rawson for a 14-yard score.

Hunter Thompson recovered a fumble in the endzone for a defensive score and Dewey Mort also scored on a 1-yard run.

Brody Keyoski had the lone TD for Buckeye Local.

Edison has a trip to fellow 6-2 squad and Region 17 team Harrison Central next Friday, while the Panthers, who fell to 1-7, travel to River.

Toronto keeps rolling

BOWERSTON -- The Toronto Red Knights won for a fifth-consecutive week, improving to 7-1 with a big, 48-0 win on the road at Conotton Valley on Friday night.

Russ Dickinson continued his strong run as the Knights starting QB, throwing for 223 yards and three scores while going 10 of 12 passing. Avery Henry also threw an 8-yard touchdown pass.

Dickinson fired a 92-yarder to Kam Baker and also delivered scoring strikes to Mason Marchbank, a 52-yarder, and Dom Bouscher.

Bouscher also ran for a 61-yard TD on his only carry, while Spencer Board also rushed for a score.

Drake Bouscher had 40 yards on just three carries.

The Red Knights totaled 348 yards of offense, while the defense limited the Rockets (4-4) to 136 and had three interceptions in the blanking.

Baker had two of those picks and Aiden Filby returned the other 72 yards for a TD.

The Red Knights, who were listed as having clinched a playoff spot in Joe Eitel's Division VII, Region 25 playoff rankings Friday night, host Caldwell next Friday.

Huskies get a big win

WATERFORD -- In a meeting of teams that entered with identical records, Harrison Central pulled away for a 28-14 win on the road at Waterford Friday night and clinched a playoff spot in the process.

The Huskies and Wildcats were tied 14-14 in the third quarter before coach Anthony Hayes' club scored the final two TDs for the big win.

Joe Eitel's rankings had the Huskies at No. 4 in Division V, Region 17 following the win and listed as having locked up a fourth-straight postseason trip.

Mykel Quito opened the scoring with a 77-yard TD run, then Parker Hutton made it 14-0 Huskies hauling in a 55-yard pass from Hayden Cassidy.

After Waterford tied it in the third quarter, Quito again found the end zone on a 2-yard run and Hutton and Cassidy again connected for a 50-yard score for the final margin.

The Huskies host Edison, also 6-2, in a big Region 17 showdown next Friday at Wagner Field.

Beaver tops Creek

WINTERSVILLE -- Indian Creek dropped a 48-6 decision to visiting Beaver Local on Friday night in its final home game of the season.

The Beavers, 4-3, opened a 34-0 lead at halftime before pulling away further in the second half.

Zac Byard fired a TD pass to Caleb Bodo for the Redskins (1-7) only score.

Creek travels to Ashland Mapleton next Friday.
