Blue Dons take care of Webster, improve to 4-0

Michael D. McElwain ROOM TO RUN — Madonna’s Wesley Molish finds running room against Webster County on Friday night.

WEIRTON -- After getting a win by forfeit a week ago, the Blue Dons got a big one on the field Friday night at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

In a key Class A match up, Madonna took care of visiting Webster County 26-8 to improve to 4-0.

Freshman QB Maddox Bowen continued his strong start, throwing for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns with an interception. He finished 16 of 25 on the night.

Wesley Molish finished with 34 yards on nine carries, finding the endzone on a 4-yard scoring run, while Matt Geer rushed for a 2-yard score and finished with 35 yards on 10 carries and KJ Ward added 59 yards on three carries, including a 53-yarder.

Geer hauled in four passes for 63 yards and a score, while Molish caught five balls for 44 yards and Koleton Grishkevich racked up 46 receiving yards on four grabs.

Madonna scored its first touchdown of the game on a hook-and-ladder play.

The Blue Dons travel across the river to battle Catholic Central next Saturday.
